German is one of tough to learn languages. Even people that managed to learn Arabic, Chinese or Korean as a second language admitted that German has its own peculiarities that could trouble even the best learners.

That's why having a really effective learning tool at hand is of great importance. Though not meant to be a specialized learning tool, with exercises, progress monitoring, and other specific treats, I'd say that The New English-German Dictionary deserves a try by anyone dealing with studying German. I have plenty of reasons to say this.

One of them is that I'm pleasantly surprised by the comprehensiveness and the accuracy of this dictionary tool. Another is because it offers a fast and reliable manner of finding translations of words and specific terms while also providing extremely useful examples of context usage for that word or term. That ensures that you'll clearly and correctly understand the proper meaning of that term, and you'll also be able to learn how to properly use it in conversations.

Last but not least, the fact that it also includes translations for many special terms from fields like mathematics, physics, electronics, chemistry, law, geography, medicine, biology, etc.

The New English-German Dictionary is also easy-to-use. Though its interface looks a bit outdated and cannot be customized, it's definitely easy-to-use and intuitive. For example, you can type in the word or phrase in English or German without having to select the language first. The program automatically does the search for that word in both languages at the same time. Pasting terms from the clipboard is also possible. Moreover, both variants of German spelling are supported.

Even though the free trial version is already quite comprehensive, the registered one comes with a staggering database of more than 860.000 translations, and that's quite a lot.

To cut a long story short, The New English-German Dictionary is a great tool that clearly deserves at least a try.
